Links win first Homecoming game in 12 years

Omaha Northwest had no chance against Lincoln High on Friday, September 9th for the Homecoming game.

Ending with a score of 27 – 21, this is the first Homecoming win Lincoln High has seen since 1999 when they defeated Lincoln East.

This may have something to do with the new coach, Macke. This is his first year at Lincoln High and a positive start from him as a coach.  “He has a different mindset.” Said Dagan Worton, a senior at Lincoln High and Varsity’s quarterback. “His love of football and passion of football rubs off on us and has us more motivated as a team.”

The game was at Lincoln High’s very own Beechner Field and the weather was great. The bleachers were filled with people, the student section roared throughout the game and things such as Lincoln High sunglasses and shirts were thrown into the student section.

Macke’s opinion on the Homecoming game was clear. “We want that to be a regular occurrence where we show up to play and compete and have a chance to win all of our games. That’s the ultimate goal.”  “What my expectation is that these guys play hard each and every game regardless of the outcome.”

Some alumni came back for this jaw dropping game to cheer on the Links and live in the past for a while.
