Nebraska Cornhusker Fans Make Weekends Great

Nebraska Cornhusker Fans Make Weekends Great

By Jesse Snider

Late August, year after year, the state of Nebraska fills with excitement as they wait for kick off, as we anticipate, we all make predictions, and share our season hopes. We talk up our favorite players and address concerns (such as defense).

This year, on August 31st, downtown Lincoln was a riot, as it usually is on opening day, full of red shirts, black shirts, shirts that say Huskers on them, and even some Bo Pelini pun shirts. All day, leading up to the game, fans fill with suspense, wondering what kind of game we are gonna have. We played Wyoming, so most people were confident of the win. After all, we were favored to win by 28 points. What actually happened was a different story..

The final score was 37-34 in favor of our Huskers. It was more than a thrilling game, Wyoming gave us a genuine scare. But the huskers prevailed. It is a known fact the most important stat a team can have is a Win, or a Loss.

All throughout the next week, fans did what they usually do, talk about their take on the game, what they liked and what they didn’t like, which, after the Wyoming game, was mostly mostly concerns. After a week of preparation, our team took the field ready to win again. Hopefully in a less dramatic fashion. Everyone had their ideas, and thoughts, but it all stopped after kickoff. We all sat, silently, awaiting something awesome!

The Huskers didn’t dissapoint! Winning against Southern Miss 56-13. After this game, the people of Lincoln were exctatic, and anxious to see how much better the huskers will do next game.

Lincoln is a nice town, very safe, nice schooling, home of the Haymarket, the State Capital building, and many other great things come from town. Nebraska is at large, a very great State to be in, it’s relatively safe, nicely sized, not to simple, but not as crazy as California or New York. Nebraska has given birth to many famous people, such as Malcom X, Johnny Carson, Henry Fonda, Marlon Brando, and Andy Roddick. But from August to December, Nebraska falls to the Huskers. And Lincoln becomes Husker Town.

Husker Town is a place with tail-gating, bars full of people at all hours, people drinking, partying, celebrating. Lincolns speed accelarates about a million miles per hour. Most times it’s entertaining and fun. But after losing to UCLA by 20…..let’s not talk about that.

We live in Lincoln Nebraska. But during football season, it’s Husker Town
