Everyone wants to go to college but do you know how to get there? A scholarship is an award of financial aid for a student to further their education. Scholarships are awarded based upon various criteria, which usually reflect the values and purposes of the donor or founder of the award. Remember, scholarship money is not required to be repaid! So it is essentially free money!
These are the current local scholarship deadlines for High Schools that may be most accessible by most students.
Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway—–$100,000—–Deadline is October 17th, 2017.
Asian Women in Business—–$2,500-$5,000—–Deadline is October 25th, 2017.
Horatio Alger Association—–$25,000—–Deadline is October 25th, 2017.
Coca-Cola Scholars Program—–$20,000—–Deadline is October 31st, 2017.
Future Engineers Scholarship—–$5,000—–Deadline is December 4th, 2017.
Burger King Scholars—–$1,000-$50,000—–Deadline is December 15th, 2017.
AXA Achievement—–$2,500-$25,000—–Deadline is December 15th, 2017 (Or the first 10,000 to apply)
Dell Scholars Program—–$20,000—–Deadline is January 15th, 2018.
APIASF—–$2,500-$20,000—–Deadline is January 18th, 2018.
Susan Thompson Buffet—–Full Ride—–Deadline is February 1st, 2018.
Jennings B. & Beulah G Haggerty Award—–$2,000—–March 15th, 2018.
Remember that all of these scholarships are equally available to everyone. Anyone can earn any of these just by doing well in school or by fitting certain requirements for specific scholarships. Applying for scholarships may seem discouraging at times, especially if you aren’t granted with a scholarship. But the key to earning many scholarships as possible, is to apply for as many scholarships as possible!
