The title of the Musical is “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” which is a representation of the Biblical story of Joseph and his rainbow colored coat. To be a part of Lincoln High’s interpretation of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, try out at the auditions. The Musical auditions will take place on December 12th from 3:30 – 6:30 P.M in room 217, and also on December 14th from 3:30 – 6:30 P.M in room 217.
The requirements for musical auditions are listed below:
For Choir- You must be able to sing “Any Dream will Do” from the Musical with a group.
For soloists – You must be able to sing “Sixteen measures of a song from a different musical” and sing “Any Dream will Do” by yourself.
Everyone is also required to be able to dance.
According to http://www.josephthemusical.com, the Musical takes place in the Biblical land of Canaan, Joseph is the favorite son of Jacob. As such, he encounters the jealousy of his brothers who object to his dreams in which he is the hero and the brothers have to pay homage to him. They arrange to have him killed and to prove his death, show their father the multicolored coat smeared with blood. In fact, Joseph has been sold into slavery to the household of Potiphar who has him thrown in jail as he is disgusted by the attraction between his wife and Joseph. Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams is relayed to Pharaoh who has started to have a series of dreams. Joseph foresees seven years of full harvests and this to be followed by seven years of famine. Joseph is put in charge of preparing for the years of famine and, just as prophesied, the dreams came true.
