Every year, Lincoln High’s Theatre Program puts on one musical performance. This year the chosen musical is Newsies: The Broadway Musical. Auditions will be held December 10, 11, and 12 after school. If you wish to sign up, audition forms are on the bench outside of room 217. The forms to sign up for an audition slot time are on door outside of 217, as well.
In order to prepare for the audition you must be prepared to act, sing, and dance. For acting, you may look ahead at scenes that you will be asked to read.
To prepare for singing, everyone auditioning will be asked to prepare for the song “Carrying the Banner”. Students preparing for auditions could learn the music after school December 3 -7 or rehearse during 4th, 6th, and 7th period during that week as well.
If students are looking to audition for a main role as well, they are asked to come prepared to sing a 16 bar solo that is accompanied with music. This can either be a recording, or music for piano accompaniment, as long as it is provided to Mrs. Simpson a few days ahead of time. It is important to note that those auditioning for a solo, may not sing something from the musical Newsies.
In preparation for the dancing aspect of the audition, auditionees could prepare for the dance ahead of time. Ms. Martinez, the show’s choreographer was available during all lunches on December 5th and 6th.
All of this information could be found on Lincoln High’s After School Theatre Google Classroom. The codes can be accessed outside of room 217 on the bulletin board.
