Good morning, Lincoln High! Welcome to LINKS LIVE!  The Lincoln High Morning News Show.   

I’m Jacob Vanderford, and I’m Tyler Schumacher

Students from the Lincoln High Math Team , competed in Division 1 of the Doane Math Competition last Thursday, showing excellence in their performance. Ariana Borlak, Daniel Do, Mikil Foss, Ella Hansen, Luke Moberly and Isza Strong all participated in the competition. In individual tests, Ariana Borlak placed 4th and Mikil Foss placed 5th, putting Lincoln high as the top scorer in individual tests, and the top seed for the Quizbowl. Lincoln High had an outstanding performance, placing second in the Quizbowl. Overall results will be released this week, so check out their instagram at LHS_mathteam for those results! Students are welcome to join the fun at our math team meetings every Thursday after school in room S126.

 

Do you want to be a future business leader? Then you should join FBLA! Our first regular meeting is Wednesday in Room 213 at 3:15. Ice cream will be served.

The STEM Program is excited to announce they will be hosting a one-day Mattress Fundraiser this Saturday, October 5th, from 10am – 5pm. There will be over 30 beds on display for customers to try. I’m Juliana Quattrocchi on behalf of your friendly neighborhood student council. This week’s student section theme is pajamas! Vote for homecoming royalty this week using the following jump codes: for freshman YTB4, for sophomores PDGF, for juniors YGRP, and for seniors YWB9. See the transcript below for those jump codes. Nominations will be accepted now through Friday and second round voting will begin next Monday! Homecoming ticket sales will be next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during lunch and after school. Tickets are 5 dollars Tuesday and Wednesday and 7 dollars on Thursday. Spirit week themes will be announced tomorrow, so stay tuned for more Enchanted Forest Homecoming updates. Go Links!

 

The LHS Cross-Country team competed at the Omaha Bryan Invite on Saturday morning. Congrats to both the boys and girls teams for running a combined 33 season or lifetime personal records. Highlights of the meet include freshman Jackson McNeese winning a hard fought battle to place 1st in the freshman boys division running a 17:53 5K, and the freshman girls team bringing home the team title in their division. Their “participation trophy” will look good hanging in the athletic hallway. Team medalists were Freshmen Jackson McNeese, Kennedy Bartee, Julia Haller, and Mana Jacobo, Sophomore Ronan Parks, Juniors Ian Becerra, Jacob Kelly, Olivia DiLillo, Lola Agena, Taylor Kruse, and Kate Wandsnider, and Senior Noah Johnson. Our next meet will be on Friday at Pioneers Park for the LPS Championships beginning with the girl’s race at 4:00.

JV Girls Golf teeing off at 9:30 at Elks Country Club and Boys JV Tennis facing Lincoln Northeast at Lincoln High at 4pm

[Thespian Convention registration is out. You can pick up a form in front of 217. The entire form must be completed by Oct 5th by the end of strike. Please give your forms and payment to Ms. Thomas. Convention is January 2-4, 2020. Miss Thomas can be found before school in 301, during all 3 lunches in 217 and after school in the theatre area. Convention will be 2 overnights in Omaha at the DoubleTree with events at the Holland Center for the Performing Arts.]

Looking for a silly spooky way to start out your Halloween season? Come see Lincoln High Theatre’s family friendly Dracula: A Comic Thriller Starring Shirley Holmes and Jennie Watson. October 3rd and 4th at 7:00 PM and October 5th at 2:00 pm at the Ted Sorensen Theatre for 5$. Tickets are available from cast members, as well as at the door.
