Good morning, Lincoln High! Welcome to LINKS LIVE! The Lincoln High Morning News Show.

WE HAVE A LOT OF ANNOUNCEMENTS TODAY, SO HANG ON. 

 

TOMORROW, Wayne State College will be in the Counseling Center at 9:00 a.m., Concordia University will be in the Counseling Center during 3rd pd, and The University of Southern California (USC) will be here during 7th period. Please get a pass from your teacher if you want to visit with the rep.

 

Interested in showing off your Culinary Skills?

Currently enrolled in Culinary Foundations or Food Preparation & Presentation?

Then the LPS Culinary Competition is for you! Sign-up for the LPS Culinary Competition with your Culinary Teacher and attend the Mandatory meeting on TODAY October 23rd at 3:15 in room S136 to get more details! Help Lincoln High win another Culinary Trophy!  

 

The Lincoln High food market will be open TODAY. It is open to anyone and starts right after school in the cafeteria. You don’t need to bring anything to go through the line and you can pick what items you wish to grab!! Again, everyone is welcome!!

 

Today in Sports:

Reserve Volleyball will play Lincoln North Star at 4pm in the LPS Tournament at Lincoln North Star

Freshman Volleyball will play Lincoln East at 4pm in the LPS Tournament at Lincoln Southwest

JV Volleyball will play Lincoln North Star at 4pm in the LPS Tournament at Lincoln Southeast

There will be a Mandatory Wrestling meeting on Wednesday Oct 30th at 3:15pm in the Wrestling Room. If you have any questions please talk to Coach Genrich.

 

Unified Bowling practice will start TODAY. Please meet at the globe at 3:15.

 

Are you tired of doing science in your basement alone? Do you dream of a career in science or even want to win a $500 scholarship? Then Science Olympiad may be for you. The LHS Science Olympiad team will have an informational meeting in room s331 , TOMORROW, Thursday, October 24th, from 3:10-3:45. If you are unable to attend but would like to join the team please find Mr. Mason in room s230 or Mrs. Fargo in s331.  

 

Students, please stop in and renew your library books! You don’t have to have the book with you, but all books that are overdue will be moving into Synergy fines. Please stop in and return or renew to keep from adding Synergy fines to your account. Thanks so much and stop in the library if you have any questions.  

 

Students may now join 3rd Period Mixed Choir or 5th Period Concert Choir and receive FULL Semester Credit! The LHS Choral Department consists of the following ensembles: bass choir, treble choir, mixed choir, concert choir, LHS Chorale, and Momentum Show Choir. The Lincoln High School Choral Department will be involved in several big collaborations/ activities this year Please contact Mr. Hoefling [at ahoeflin@lps.org], or stop by room 130 if you’d like to join our award winning team!

 

SENIORS! Remember that Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 is the DEADLINE for submitting your SENIOR PHOTO for the YEARBOOK.

The Downtown YMCA is offering a free event of fun for Freshman ONLY this Saturday, October 26th from 6:30-10:00pm.. There will be games, activities, and prizes for students. We hope to see you there! 

 

And now an announcement from Student Council and SCIP – The School Community Intervention Program – What are e-cigarettes? They are small electronic devices that heat a substance which turns into small particles in the air that people then inhale. They are also known as vape pens and come in different shapes and sizes. Some look like highlighters, USB drives, and writing utensils. People typically use e-cigarettes to vape nicotine but they can also be used to vape other substances as well. 

For more information visit the Student Council table in the cafeteria during all lunches.

2019 Lights On After School and the 20th Anniversary of Lincoln Community Learning Centers aka CLCs ! will be TOMORROW, October 24th 2019 from 6-8pm Lincoln Children’s Zoo -1222 S. 27th St. Lincoln Community Learning Centers have been serving Lincoln Public Schools since 1999 and to celebrate, LOAS is going to be hosted at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo! We will be highlighting all of our 29 sites, showcasing the history of Lincoln CLCs, and hosting a small program. There will be food, fun, and a drawing for prizes! We hope to see all you LINKS there to celebrate our joining the CLC Network!

 

Education Talent Search(commonly referred to as ETS) is an after school group that provides ETS Scholars with additional opportunities to be successful in high school and be prepared for college. Through group discussions, guest speakers, and hands on activities Scholars will be prepared for any college pathway. Work on: leadership opportunities, study skills, scholarships, careers, and life in college. Participants must be in ETS currently or apply to be in ETS after attending 2 meetings. This group will meet Wednesdays after school in 100M- Please join us for our first meeting TODAY Wednesday October 23rd! 

 

Comic Creators Collective allows collaboration and creativity to take over in this after school opportunity that has students making collective comics! Utilize skills such as writing, designing, drawing and teamwork in making unique comic creations. This fun and innovative project will allow students to take the lead in crafting what they want to produce. This group will meet Thursdays in room 135 starting October 24th! Come join the collective fun!

 

Scribe is looking for new members! If you are interested in being apart of an amazing Lincoln High tradition come and check out a short informational meeting after school today in Room 306. Scribe is Lincoln High’s very own literary magazine that focuses on publishing student writing and art. All are welcome, so bring your friends to Room 306 after school today. 

 

A reminder that English After school Resource Center is open TODAY in Room 316 with Ms. Rennings from 3:15 – 4:15.  Get the help you need to meet your academic goals from Lincoln High teachers! See you there!

 

Lincoln High Theatre will be having a fundraiser at Novel Idea from 5pm-8pm November 1st. The fundraiser will be all day and anyone is welcome to come down and buy a book! All proceeds go to Lincoln High Theatre and to those who would like to sign up and support our theatre the sign up sheet is on the tech room doors and if you don’t have anything “costume-like” to wear, meet Lily Anderson at the basement door on October 30th.

 

And on the Lunch Menu today we have:

Tangerine Chicken on Brown Rice, Lasagna, or a Chef Salad.

Meatless Entrees include Stuffed Crust Cheese Pizza or a Meatless Chef Salad with a garlic breadstick or a roll.
