Good morning Lincoln High, Welcome to LinksLive! The Lincoln High Morning News Show.

I’m Adam Hilfy Leon and I’m Jazzmin Branch

All boys not in a winter sport who are interested in playing soccer this spring should attend a brief meeting Friday, February 7 at 3:15pm in room 157 (The Athletic Conference Room). We will discuss the remainder of the preseason, getting ready for tryouts, and what to expect for tryouts.

Anyone interested in playing boys golf this season, there will be a 5-10 minute meeting on Monday Feb. 10th in room 144 at 3:15.

And now here’s a message from African American Caucus:

This is Jackson Okereke with your black history month fact of the day. Did you know that (according to History.com) Jack Johnson became the first African-American man to hold the World Heavyweight Champion boxing title in 1908. He held onto the belt until 1915.

“Do you like creative expression? Do you like community parades? do you like giant puppets? If you answered “”yes”” to any of these questions, then please join us THIS SATURDAY for visioning our NEXT community parade. This creative and collaborative conversation is taking place at the South of Downtown Art Hub on the corner of 11th and B from 1-3pm.

If you want to stay connected visit the People’s Puppet Parade facebook page or their website: http://peoplespuppetparade.com/

This Thursday the Lincoln High Community Learning Center invites STUDENTS, FAMILIES, STAFF, & COMMUNITY MEMBERS to come together as ONE community for a meal and conversation. We are calling this event Community LINKS Cafe which uses the Community Cafe Model to bring people together for intentional conversations.
Here is What To Expect:
Cafes are usually hosted by parents in a school community, however our cafe will be hosted by a student and a community partner. Hosts are there to set the space and intention so that everyone who attends discovers meaningful connection that unites us as a community.
No two cafe experiences are alike because they are driven by conversation of the individuals who are in the room! We hope that you and your family will be in the room for this engaging evening of food and connection.
The Community LINKS Cafe is this Thursday February 6th from 6-7:30pm in the Lincoln High cafeteria. A free meal will be provided and ALL are welcome and encouraged to attend.
*Please note that due to this event there will NOT be a student meal served 4:30-5pm.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions. We are excited to host this event and hope to see you there!”

Good morning. This is Lucas Varley, your school counselor, and this week, we are celebrating National School Counseling Week. Did you know that your attitude can help you take on the challenges and obstacles you face in your daily life?
We all know people who are grumpy. Or negative. Or ungrateful. They find it easier to complain about their obstacles than to work through them. But as Michael Jordan once said, “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it.”
Babe Ruth, one of the greatest baseball players ever, had a similar attitude. “Every strike,” he said, “brings me closer to the next home run.” And he hit 714 home runs, a record that stood for almost 40 years.
Take a moment to think about your attitude. Do you approach things positively or negatively? Do you reach out to others for support? Reach out to me. Feel free to stop by my office anytime.”

“I’m Juliana Quattrocchi on behalf of your friendly neighborhood student council. Buy a sweet for your sweetie Monday and Tuesday in the cafeteria during lunch. Candy grams are just $2 each and a Student Council member will deliver them on the Friday morning of Valentine’s day.

Seniors and staff, if you’re interested in playing in a student versus staff volleyball game to spike out mental illness on March 27th, let us know using the jumpcode PLY4. That’s PLY4. Go Links!”
