LinksLIVE! The LHS News Broadcast 3/27/2020 *Coronavirus Edition*

Season 1: Episode 126
Friday, March 27, 2020

Good morning Lincoln High, and welcome to LinksLIVE! The Lincoln High morning news show.

I’m Mr. Keller still guest anchoring during the school closure and keeping you updated on the latest news about school and the coronavirus situation. Hope you’re all doing well.

Just because we’re distancing, it doesn’t mean we can’t still connect. The Advocate, LinksLIVE! and Yearbook staffs are still on the job keeping a record of these historic times, and we want to hear about your experiences during the closure. Send us messages, photos, or videos of how you’re coping with this new situation by filling out the form at the Jump Code: PBYZ. We want to hear from you.

School Business:
Remember that this coming week (March 30th – April 3rd) you should still be doing a second week of review material through Google Classroom for all of your classes. This work is optional and will not be graded, BUT it will be helpful to have as we move forward with online instruction, so be sure to check it out. Contact your teachers if you have questions.

Phase II of the plan will begin on Monday, April 6th and will include the beginning of online and remote instruction with new material for you. As we get those details worked out this coming week, you’ll get updates from LPS. We’ll be sure to pass those along as well.

Many teachers are learning new technology and using online tools for the first time in addition to getting class material ready. Please be patient with us as we get this all figured out. Thanks.

Speaking of teachers, here are some more messages to you from LHS staff.

Here’s an update on Food Distribution. There have been some big changes to the Grab-and-Go meal distribution program starting THIS MONDAY, so please listen carefully.

Four more LPS sites have been added, bringing the total number of sites to 12, and more meals are being prepared for each location.

Distribution will now be weekly on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Drive-thru sites are being set up at each location and families are being asked to stay in their vehicles and pick up the child meals in the drive-thru lane.
To keep everyone safe, please follow LPS staff directions and signage at each location.
Please obey all traffic laws and do not block the regular flow of traffic, driveways or arterial streets surrounding schools.

The sites will open at 11 a.m. and vehicle lines will not be allowed to form more than five minutes prior to opening.

There is a walk-up area available for families who do not have a vehicle, but long lines will not be allowed. Please follow the directions from LPS staff. Cones will be set to promote proper line spacing.

Each child will continue to receive five breakfasts and five lunch meals.
The meals are for children only, and all children 18 and younger are eligible for meals.
Children must now be present to receive the meals.

Meals are also available to persons with disabilities, ages 18 to 21, who participate in LPS programs. They must also be present to receive the meals.

Meals will be distributed weekly on Mondays from now on from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following LPS locations:

Belmont Elementary School: Vehicles enter near the swimming pool at 12th and Manatt streets and follow staff directions to Door 36 near Educare.
