As the Nebraska State Fair prepares to move from the Lincoln Fair Grounds to Grand Island, Nebraska, here are a few facts regarding the Fair:
* It is from August 28, 2009- September 7, 2009
*In 1919 a fire broke out on the state fair grounds and burned down a big cattle barn. Rather waiting for the lawmakers to pay for a new barn, Lincoln business leaders passed around a 10-gallon hat and raised $150,000 to build a new one.
* Only 309,000 people attended the fair in 2008, and of those people only 155,000 lived 30 miles from the state fair park.
*This year is the 140th year for the Nebraska State Fair. And this is the last year for it to be in the Capital City because next year Lincolnites will have to drive a 200 mile round-trip to Grand Island.
*Performances this year are:
*Lee Ann Womack- August 28, 2009
