On Sept. 7, the Links Softball team took on the Omaha Bryan Bears. It was Senior Night for the LHS softball team out at Doris Bair fields and the seniors were excited. This was their night. The Links started the game strong with 6 points in the first 3 innings.
The team hit three triples and a home run and couldn’t help but cheerfully shout after each good hit and celebrate at each point. “We could have been a little louder with our cheers” said #13 Emilia Wright.
They held down their position at bat though precise swings and sharp eyes. Throughout the rest of the game, the team continued to play strong and kept Omaha-Bryan down.
They only scored one more point but the rest of the game was a breeze with the opponents only scoring one point the entire game, although Wright said, “If we were playing our best, they wouldn’t have scored at all.”
Afterwards, our Links celebrated senior night and the players were offered flowers by friends and family, followed by a speech about each of them from their coach including their intentions for college and their favorite memories from softball. After all that, senior night wrapped up as tears fell and families got together to celebrate.
