The Links fell to the Silverhawks on Friday, August 26, in a grueling 20-19 loss at Seacrest Field. The Links led early, but were tipped in a second-half comeback.

LSW struck first in their opening drive. In a short offensive series, the Silverhawks drove down the field and scored. Defensively, the Links struggled to make plays on the outside throughout the game. “Containing the outside and getting 11 guys to the football” was a major weakness for the Links according to senior defensive tackle Omarion Weaver.

The Links boasted a strong offense in the first half which gave them the lead for most of the game. “Our run game was strong. They couldn’t really stop us, those long drives really beat down teams” said Weaver, also the Links’ starting right guard.

Injuries proved to be devastating for the Links. The loss of Senior starting quarterback Adonis Hutchinson caused a notable shift in the offense. “I think we would have continued to move the ball even better,” says Hutchinson, who suffered an injury in the second quarter. He will be back to practice in a week.

The Links’ lack of depth was apparent late in the game. With multiple starters out, the Silverhawks used it to their advantage to come out on top.

The Links are optimistic looking ahead. They have a lot of faith in second string quarterback Julian Babahanov. “He just has that dog in him,” said Weaver. “Julian can do what he does and succeed,” Hutchinson confirms. The Links continue to improve their 0-1 record to their current 2-1.
