Student Spotlight: Ella Medina

LHS Senior Ella Medina is extremely busy. On top of school and her AP classes, Medina is involved in theatre and show choir, holding leadership positions in both.

While she loves these activities, doing them all at once can become stressful. When asked how she juggles it all, Medina explained that it has taken time to get used to. She says, “It’s mainly just time management, like making sure I’m getting things done in a certain amount of time so I can move on to the next.”

Medina has recently been cast as Donna (a major role) in LHS Theatre’s Mamma Mia, and rehearsals are in full swing. The stress of this role is a new experience for Ella because of the weight of material to be learned, but Medina says, “It’s been really fun”.

Even though Medina doesn’t have much time outside of school, theatre, and show choir; she fills that time by hanging out with friends, trying new restaurants, and of course napping. Although there still isn’t much time for these because Medina also works as a barista at Scooters.

But that’s not all, Ella is also a Co-President of TIE (Teens Influencing Equity) Club at LHS which advocates for social progress in their community. She was also the co-founder of the club.

Looking ahead, Medina is planning to attend UNL with a Speech Pathology major and a Music minor. And don’t worry, she’s not planning on being any less busy. Medina is hoping to audition for UNL’s Big Red Singers and possibly one of their a cappella groups as well.

Medina is ready and excited to continue to be involved in the arts as she moves on to the next steps in her life.
