The organization running LHS Community Learning Center changed recently. Up until this semester, the CLC program was run by Civic Nebraska. But mid-year brought an unexpected change to The Boys and Girls Club, a non-profit organization that specializes in before and after school programming. With the change brings a new CLC director and community coordinator, Tristan Swift, a former LHS student. Swift can help students create clubs and plan community engagement events. Swift is excited to build relationships and connections with people here at Lincoln High and to help provide opportunities for them.
Civic Nebraska had a leadership change recently and decided to focus their money closer to their mission, so they stopped providing after school programming for schools. LHS put out an application form for nonprofits to apply to run after school programming. Lincoln High Principal, Mark Larson said that when picking an organization it was non-negotiable to keep clubs that are already running so that the transition was as smooth as possible. The Boys and Girls Club were happy to honor this request. BGC is also the organization for Park Middle School, a key feeder school to Lincoln High.
