LHS teachers, students, and staff joined millions of Americans. today by wearing purple on Spirit Day as a sign of support for LGBT youth and to speak out against bullying.
Over 84% of American students report that they are verbally harassed due to their sexual orientation. Today, Thursday, Oct. 17, 2103, LHS went purple to stand up against bullying while showing support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trangender youth.
Lincoln High’s Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender/Straight Alliance (GLBTSA) members read sound announcements this week to educate people about some of the problems encountered by LGBTQ youth.
“By coming together to support LGBTQ youth we are fighting against bullying and other forms of discrimination, along with celebrating the courage and strength of LGBTQ youth.”
