LHS staff take a “ghost tour” of basement and other places rarely seen

You have to have a belief in ghosts first of all,” IB Coordinator John Heineman said of the stories of ghosts in this 100-year-old building.
“I’ve had experiences and students have reported that there are ghosts here. It’s a personal belief, but if Lincoln High where to have ghosts I would believe it would have several,” he added.
Heineman was the guide for a staff “ghost tour” that occurred on October 17th at 4 p.m. He led staff members under the school, above the theatre, and even on the roof.
“It was fun to see parts of the building that are underneath the main building like the old swimming pool and those types of things, so it was pretty fun,” Heineman said.
The old swimming pool, which is located under the media center, wasn’t the only place they visited. “We went underneath the main stairs, there’s a storage area that you can access there, the old swimming pool, and we went under the link access the old tunnels that used to connect Lincoln High to other parts of the building and the surrounding area.” Heineman said.
You’re probably asking yourself, “Did anything happen while the tour was being given?” Well hopefully you’re not disappointed. “Nothing happened that we know of,” Heineman said. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been here for four years and I didn’t even know about the tunnels underneath the link.
Have you heard of the theatre ghost? “Probably the most famous ghost is the theatre ghost who’s reported to sit in the audience, a blonde young man who you’ll look and you’ll see him then you’ll look again and he’ll be gone,” Heineman said.
“I’ve never experienced anything, but room 300 used to be the Media Center when the building was first built, and people have reported being shushed when there’s no one there. Some people have seen the librarian up there, too.”
The theatre also has the most history to it, then again there are many theatres known for having reports of ghost like activity.
“I’m biased because I used to be the theatre teacher and I still direct the musicals, but theatres are notorious for having ghosts and paranormal activity so it’s just a natural place and it’s a place where everybody eventually spends their time, eventually so there’s a connection there.”
