The boys Varsity basketball team continues to dominate the Class A season. After an impressive run of road victories over Norfolk (then rated number one) and Omaha Benson, the Links have not looked back. Handling Lincoln Northeast and Omaha Northwest were key home victories; consequently, LHS then rose to the challenge of venturing to the Omaha Cage Classic tournament… they took the title. It appears that, home or away, the Links come to play.
The season, however, has not come without its struggles. There were mid-season obstacles, such as an injury to key scorers Tobin Reinwald and Vincent Smail, the Links did not miss a beat out-playing and out-scoring the opposition. This week, they face the challenge of inner-city rival Lincoln Southeast (who defeated the Links by one point in an earlier contest). Johnson Gym will be the site of a key contest before the challenge of districts moves to the fore-front. For first year coach Dan Noble, the team has played incredibly well with seniors Tommy Johnson and Dylan Flinn leading the way. However, it has been a team effort with players contributing off the bench and with team work. This month will prove to be an exciting time for the Links.
