Netflix has stolen my heart, and I’m not sure I want it back. I don’t know about you, but I spend more time laying in bed watching Netflix, than I spend socializing. It’s sad, I know, but it’s not my fault! Netflix has definitely blown up within the last year, and I’m betting there are a couple of people out there who are just like me.
Netflix hasn’t just become an addiction, it’s changed our lives. Being able to just watch the next episode wasn’t even a choice a few years ago; you would have to wait at least a week. Now we binge watch like crazy. It doesn’t matter if we just started the show the last week, we could be almost done with it, and it’s normal. Remember when we had to watch commercials? Yeah, Netflix wiped that out too.
Here are some warnings signs that may indicate a Netflix addiction.
Turning down plans with friends just to lounge around and binge watch Netflix.
Don’t lie. We’ve all done it. It’s not that the person is lame or that going out to eat doesn’t sound good, it’s just that today’s been a long day and Netflix has been calling out my name. So sorry, “My mom said no.”
When the recommendations are so on-point that you’re convinced Netflix knows you better than you know yourself.
There are days when the Netflix just gets you. You log on and that “Recommended For You” list has some movies and shows from the past, some that you wanted to see but forgot. And let’s not forget about the time the show your friend told you about mysteriously showed up there too.
Crappy days automatically get better with ice-cream and Netflix.
Netflix has all of the best shows for watching for when the day takes a wrong turn. It has reality shows to make fun of, comedy shows to laugh the pain away, and it even has dramas to help you cry into the bucket of dairy goodness. Netflix literally has a movie or show to comfort anyone back into a good mood.
You’ve had “fights” with Netflix.
This sounds a little bit out there, so allow me to explain. There will be times when the movie I wanted to watch yesterday is no longer available. So I’ll log off and I’ll head over to Hulu or some other streaming site for a couple of hours, but in the end, I always end up back with Netflix. Every single time.
Netflix IS your best friend.
Now, I’m hoping that I’m not the only one here. I’m so in love with Netflix it has led me to the one thing that makes me feel better no matter the mood I’m in. Grey’s Anatomy has become my addiction and Netflix recommended it to me. The fact that Netflix has 10 seasons that I can watch whenever I want, I will never be angry or sad again.
In the end, falling in love with Netflix wasn’t all that hard. I swear, the hardest decision I’ve had to make is whether or not I want to watch the next episode only to have 15 seconds to decide whether or not I want to stay or go…
Let’s just say that Netflix has a way of winning.
