Hey there! (:
My name is Angelina Tran-Buresh, but most call me Angel. I am Advocate’s Managing Editor, Photography Editor, Head Co-Marketer, and Head Photographer as well. I’m an outside hitter, sprinter, and long-jumper. I’m the typical Pre-International Baccalaureate Program student, trying to keep my grades up and times down(:
Starbucks addict, shopper, warm hugs, and smiles(: I’m usually outgoing, and I always have an opinion. Writer since 09′. Learning about the world with my best friend, Brianna. Photography is my life, and Broadcasting is my future.
Prior Experience
I’ve taken a 5 credit Journalism class at Park Middle School, where I was the editor of the school yearbook 2014-2015. First semester of my freshman year, I took Photojournalism class, which is what led me to The Advocate. I also work for Dwyer Photography in Millard and Omaha. So far this year, I’ve worked at over 25 major events, 16 of which that were sporting events, 2 concerts, and many others. This is my second year of Advocate, which I plan on taking for the rest of my high school experience.
Future Goals and Aspirations
As a sophomore in high school, most would not assume that I am looking into colleges, but a major goal for my life is to finish school with both a bachelors, masters, and doctorate degree. I am a part of the Upward Bound program, a program designed to give students aid and precollege help. In other words, a college preparatory program. I plan on majoring in Broadcasting, at either Northwestern University in Chicago, Texas Christian University, University of Southern California, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, DePaul University Chicago, or University of California-Los Angeles. Lots of options, lots of possibilities. I think
Personal Life
I am a varsity sprinter for the LHS Track and Field team, as well as a letterer. Last spring, during my freshman year, I qualified for state in three events: the 100M dash, 200M dash, and the 4x100M relay. I am a sponsored indoor track sprinter as well as a competitive powerlifter. My main goal is to return to the Nebraska State Track and Field Championship next May 2017.
Another activity I am involved in is DECA, which stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America. As a part of DECA, I got my team/club sponsored by many local, national, and international businesses. I compete in conferences, and my goal is to make it to nationals in the spring.
Last June, I traveled to Washington, D.C. for the NSBA conference where I was the female public school student representative and I got to converse with our two Nebraska U.S. Senators, and three Congressmen. I also traveled to Chicago in July for the Upward Bound Program to visit some colleges, and go on a fun trip with friends.
Lastly, I am an LHS Competitive Powerlifter, which is exactly as it sounds-powerlifting. As a competitor, I go to meets and lift weights. It isn’t the most complicated.
Advocate is at the top of my priorities, and I can’t wait to see what this year’s staff does!
