My name is Samantha Stuefer. I am currently 17 years old. I was born here in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 3rd, 1998. I live with my biological parents and little brother. I am a happy mother of 2 rats, Luna and Sunny, and 2 cats, Leo and Topaz.

I have been writing my whole life. When I was in elementary school I was constantly coming up with songs and stories and I wrote little “books” to help teach my brother words and how to read, so it’s no surprise to me or anyone I know that being in Newspaper is one of my favorite things in the world. I love being able to write about things that are important to me and be able to spread the news around so everyone can be informed. I usually cover heavier topics because I love the controversy and I feel like a lot of them aren’t talked about them enough. Plus, covering heavier topics usually need me to dig really deep into them and do a lot of research, which is really interesting and fun to me.

I also really love music. I have been singing for a very long time. From about the age of 11-16, I was in multiple bands through a great program called Academy of Rock. The first one I was in was Emergency Entrance, then Political Asylum and lastly First World Problems. Though I do not play in bands anymore, I still sing. I take voice lessons every Tuesday. I also participate in Concert Choir.

Some of my favorite bands include:

  • A Day to Remember

  • Real Friends

  • Brand New

  • Led Zeppelin

  • Nirvana

  • Smashing Pumpkins

  • Janis Joplin

  • The Doors

  • Pink Floyd

  • Sex Pistols

  • The Misfits

  • The Deftones

  • Korn

The list goes on.

My dream job is to become a high school literature teacher. I’ll hopefully be starting at SCC sometime next fall, and continuing on to a four-year college (UNL, Wesleyan, or Peru State hopefully). I’ve been wanting to be a teacher since Freshman year because I love writing (obviously) and I love working with kids. I also just really like helping people and I feel like I could not only be a teacher, but a friend and be there when a student needs me.

Lastly, something that’s not a huge thing that everyone knows about me, is that I really love cooking and baking. I make a mean Chicken Alfredo dish, as well as a bomb homemade apple pie all from scratch.

So, that’s really it about me. 🙂
