After a 66-31 victory against Kearney High School on Friday October 12th, the Links Varsity Football team is now at a 6-2 record, with their next game being played against Lincoln Southwest at Seacrest Field at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 19th. Temperatures dropped to almost 28 degrees Friday night.
“I think we played a great game,” senior running back, Isaiah Alford, said. “We played as a team and we found our rhythm and didn’t look back but I think that we are only [going to] get better and that we are ready to make a run for state.”
“We were able to get a lot of guys involved,” senior Quarterback Cedric Case said. “And that makes us dangerous. I think with it being senior night, there was a lot of emotion going on during the game,” Case said.
The now 4-4 Kearney Bearcats brought a challenge to the Links due to the Bearcats being State Runner up in 2017, losing to Omaha North. “To prepare for Kearney we had to work on trying to stop the running game,” Isaiah Alford said. “We kept a humbled mindset going into the game.”
The now #2-ranked Lincoln High School Football team will be playing the ninth-ranked Lincoln Southwest High School Football team on October 19th at Seacrest Field at 8 p.m.
