Here’s a message from Art Teacher Michelle Clifford about a student who has created an art project about graduation.
Senior Heidy Chairez drew a portrait about the despair that many seniors are feeling by missing out on important milestones, such as graduation. She says that many students were looking forward to walking across the stage and saying “I made it,” but it is being “wiped away by tears.” Graduation will not look like our normal tradition this year, but it is no less of an accomplishment. Senior class of 2020, we are still so proud of all of you!

Thanks to LHS teachers and staff for their amazing work helping LHS families who have local businesses. The group Links Helping Links (spearheaded by LHS social studies teachers Lindsey Herting and Nancy Grant-Colson) raised over $3,000 in donations from LHS staff members in just two weeks to support Lincoln High-affiliated businesses struggling during the pandemic. They purchased gift cards and food from those businesses and distributed them to nurses, firefighters, police officers, LHS custodians, postal workers, and other essential workers throughout Lincoln. The unofficial (and ever-evolving) directory of Lincoln High-affiliated businesses that we can all use to help support local businesses is linked below in the transcript. Please consider helping them out by buying gift cards now and giving them to family or friends once the pandemic is over.

C: This Wednesday JP from Inclusive communities will be joining the CLC Zoom Office Hour from 2-3pm

Inclusive Communities is a non-profit that provides education and advocacy related to the topics of diversity and inclusion.
E: We want to use this virtual space on Wednesday as an opportunity to connect with one another and talk about how we can work towards making all of our communities more inclusive.

JP will lead us through a number of different games and exercises to explore diversity, identity and intersectionality.

C: This is a great opportunity to explore hard topics and connect with others.

E: We hope you join us Wednesday from 2-3pm for this experience!

If you would like to be involved in the 2021 show choir season, use the jump code PI09. That code will take you to the audition folder Mr.Hoefling has set up. Because of the school closure, auditions will be held closer to fall, but that gives you plenty of time to practice!

Running out of things to read during quarantine? LPS media services just loaded some more new FREE BOOKS from Mackin VIA. They are multi-user so more than one person can check out the book. Here are the directions.

Choose Mackin VIA in the list of portal options
If asked to login, use your LPS username & password
There’s are separate lists for Elementary, Middle, and High Schools
How to search for multi-user books in MackinVIA:
Click on “More” in the menu

MyLNK is a website and a mobile app that has information about community resources. It can be downloaded in a wi-fi environment and then used when wi-fi is not available. The website provides translations in Spanish Vietnamese, and Arabic. See the link in the transcript below.

LPS has added two new locations Goodrich and Lefler, for food distribution. Click on the Food Distribution link at lps.org for maps and more specific information, or type the word “food” in the keyword search. [https://home.lps.org/covid-19/food-distribution/]

Weekly food distribution is Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for any child ages 1-18 at the following locations:
Belmont, Arnold, Calvert, Hartley, Huntington, Clinton, Saratoga, and West Lincoln
Elementary Schools:
Culler, Park, Goodrich, and Lefler Middle Schools,
and at Northeast High School and Lincoln High where you’ll enter the circle on 21st and J Streets and follow staff directions.

Any family is also welcome to pick up pre-packaged bags of food from the Lincoln Food Bank during their food distribution. More information about their schedule can be found at their website: LincolnFoodBank.org
