Throughout Lincoln, Little Free Pantries and Fridges have joined the Little Free Library movement. Hundreds of these little boxes offer ‘take what you need, leave what you can’ policies to support the community. In this video, KLHS Staff Journalist Verity Wegener interviews several LFP owners about their experiences in owning one of these boxes.

While capturing footage for this video, a community member stopped by and told us about his experiences. He had seen many homeless people coming to get food from the LFP outside Proyecto Cultural in Lincoln. With a cold snap coming up, he said the food in LFPs would be vital to those people who can’t afford food.

If you want to contribute to the LFP project, you can find where pantries are via the Little Free Pantries of Lincoln Facebook page, and drop off extra shelf-stable food. LFP’s also take toiletries like soap. Every item donated makes a difference in people’s lives. You can also consider starting a food drive, to gather more food for your community.
