Imagine coming home to find it completely surrounded by fire trucks and finding out that you can’t go in. All you can do is sit and watch as the fire burns and causes between $200,000 and $300,000 worth of damage. On October 25, this was the reality for 4 Lincoln High families.
Although no one was injured in the fire, residents weren’t able to get into the building to get their belongings for several days. When they did, many of their possessions were damaged or unusable. For five LHS students, this also meant not having supplies for school on Monday.
The Lincoln High Red Cross Club is accepted donations from November 4 until November 12.
Donations were accepted during lunch, at the north and south doors, the media center, and in the main office. The amount of donations exceeded the original goal that was set. “I’m just going to say around figure $1200…The original goal was $700.” LHS Red Cross sponsor, Richard Jackson said.
“I just thought the output of the student body, the students here at Lincoln High was overwhelming, because they just gave,” Jackson said.
“It just shows so much about the kids here; that they are willing to help others in need at a time when things weren’t going well for another family. I was really impressed by that,” Jackson added.
