LHS Music Dept. To Chicago

LHS Music Dept. To Chicago

The Lincoln High Band and vocal groups are going to Chicago this year for a music competition.  The band is leaving early in the morning on April 28th and will return on April 30th.  The band will be taking a bus up to Chicago and back instead of flying there.  During the competition the band is going to play “Aribasque”, “Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head”, and “Walking Through History”.  Everyone on the trip will be able to have free time during their visit and will see a performance by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  The band does get to visit the Shedd Aquarium, too, which has over 33,000 aquatic animals in it.
Lincoln High vocal groups will be attending the trip to Chicago, as well.  Swing choir Jazz Connections, Concert Chorale, and a ninth and tenth grade mixed chorus are all combining to produce a mass choir.
For me this is my last band trip I’ll ever take with Lincoln High so I’m definitely going to go. During my time in band we have visited many places out of state.  Highlights for me have included London, Omaha, and Kansas City.   Although Chicago is not as epic as crossing the Atlantic Ocean, it will still be a fantastic trip.
This tip will also mark another milestone:  retiring educator Dan Ehly is retiring at the end of the school year.
