On Saturday, April 22, 2017, the Lincoln High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team won both of their games during a tournament hosted at Omaha North Magnet School.  Playing against Omaha North in the first game at 9 a.m, the Links won 3-0 scoring twice in the first half and once in the second half.  “We almost scored right away in the game,” senior captain, Marco Mendez said. “We possessed the ball a lot and we took the opportunities to score to put us into the final.”

During the second game against Omaha Northwest at 11 a.m., the Links finished 3-1 scoring once in the first half and coming back in the second half scoring two goals.  “Simon [Joseph] scored early on to give us a 1-0 lead,” Mendez said, “They came back at us and scored, so we had to pull through the rest of the game.”  Junior captain, Simon Joseph scored 3 goals on Saturday, with two during the game against Omaha North and one against Omaha Northwest.

Lincoln High is currently 4-11 in their season with only two regular games left for the year.  Their next game on April 25th will be against the Fremont High School Tigers at Spirit Park in Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. Central.  For more information follow their Instagram @lhs_boys_soccer_official and follow The Advocate on Instagram//@LinksNewspaper and Twitter//@LHSAdvocate.
