Everybody loves a story with action, adventure, and romance, and that is exactly what the LHS Theatre Department has been working on with their One Act Cyrano De Bergerac. (Cast list can be found below.)
The show will open on November 29th in the Ted Sorensen Theatre at 7 p.m. The LHS cast and crew will then take the stage for Class A-1 Districts on Saturday December 1st at 12:45 p.m. at Lincoln Southeast High School.
Last year, the LHS One Act won their district with a perfect score and placed third at state. LHS also hosted their One Act play festival in order to prepare for district and help provide competing schools with feedback as well. (More on that here.)
“[One Act] is a more competitive and intense [environment] compared to the other shows,” senior stage manager Katie Brinkman said. “But we really grow as a family and we feel more like a cohesive group.”
Brinkman has been involved with One Act since her freshman year, and has stage managed both last years Moliere’s The Miser and this years Cyrano De Bergerac.
¨My favorite parts of One Act are festival and all the traditions that surround [One Act].¨ Brinkman said.
This is junior Jacob Vanderford’s first One Act. Vanderford plays Le Bret, a confidant of Cyrano.
“I’ve never acted in a Mr. Holbein-directed show, so it’s interesting to see the differences in directing and blocking styles compared to the fall show and the musical.” Vanderford said. “Overall, the environment feels different because of the competition atmosphere the one act brings to the table.”
With less than two days till opening night, cast and crew are both preparing to put on the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 29th, and the curtain opens at 7 p.m. Tickets will be $5 at the door, or from any cast member. Break a leg, Links!
