LHS senior killed in car accident, passenger critically injured

Lincoln High School senior Cayliss Mothershed (12/1/1993 – 11/14/2011)

LHS Senior Cayliss Mothershed died Monday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2011, from injuries suffered when the car she was driving struck a concrete pillar that supports Hwy 77 on South Folsom Rd.

Lincoln High School senior Gia Ryles

LHS senior Gia Ryles, a passenger in the car, was injured and taken to Bryan LGH West. Ryles is said to be in critical condition but expected to recover.

LHS track coach and social studies teacher Bob White visited Ryles this morning at the hospital and reported over a sound announcement that Ryles was in good spirits and described her internal injuries as minor with no plans for surgery at this point.

LHS alum Kameron Neeman (2010) is planning to have a candlelight vigil tonight at Antelope Park from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. Neeman has also created a memorial page on facebook titled, “Remember Cayliss Mothershed.”

Counselors from the Lincoln Public Schools District Office are available in the building (Room 300) during the day to support students and staff.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Christ Temple Church, 500 N. 25th Street, Lincoln. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln. The family will be present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.

Food donations are still being accepted and should be taken to Christ Temple Church at 10 am. on Saturday.

Memorials are to go to the family. People can bring them to funeral service or mail them to Christ Temple Church and specify Cayliss Mothershed Memorial Fund.
