LHS collects food for funeral of Spanish teacher’s husband

LHS World Languages teacher Kim Szelag (right) and her husband Ray on their “once in a lifetime” trip to Mexico. Ray died on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 of a heart attack.

LHS Spanish teacher Kim Szelag’s husband, Raymond, 55,  passed away on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, after he suffered a heart attack at the Federal Office Building in Omaha.  Teachers pulled together to provide food for Szelag who will be hosting many of her late husband’s relatives this weekend.

Staff were asked by World Language teachers to bring casseroles or other food items to the Staff Lounge refrigerator on Thursday to be delivered to Szelag after school that day.

LHS staff able to provide food are asked to email Spanish teacher Liz Okereke at eokereke@lps.org to let her know what to expect.

Services are Saturday at 10:30-St. John the Apostle Church on 76th (?) and Vine Streets with a luncheon immediately following.   Visiting hours will be Friday from 3 until 7 but family will only be there 5-7 with a rosary immediately following.
