A radar image from the National Weather Service website shows a huge storm barreling across southeastern Nebraska Wednesday evening. The severe weather, which included snow and high winds, prompted LPS to cancel classes for Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.

Lincoln Public Schools announced this evening at 9:45 p.m. that all LPS schools would be closed tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012) due to a large snow storm that began earlier this afternoon.

While many students (and staff) might welcome this day off, it throws a wrench in the works for final exams which began today.

The administration was ready, however, with an alternative that they communicated before the end of the school day today.

Assuming that we’ll be able to come back on Friday, the remaining four finals will all be given on that one day. Instead of the usual 90 minutes for each exam, however, classes will meet for only 75 minutes in order to have the day end at 3:00 p.m. (Schedule below)
