Imagine coming home to find your house or apartment completely surrounded by fire trucks and finding out that you can’t go in. All you can do is sit and watch as the fire burns and causes thousands of dollars worth of damage. On Sunday, October 26, 2014, this was the reality for 4 Lincoln High families.
Although no one was injured in the fire, residents weren’t able to get into the building to get their belongings for several days. When they did, many of their possessions were damaged or unusable. For five LHS students, this also meant not having supplies for school on Monday. Now, you can help them.
The Lincoln High Red Cross Club is accepting donations that will go to the students affected by the fire. Red Cross Club sponsor Richard Jackson said, “I’m just glad that we are able to help those families that are in need, because that’s what the Red Cross Club is all about.”
From now until next Wednesday, November 12, 2014 anyone can donate money. “We’re just going to collect funds for a week, and we have some other schools (Northeast) who are doing this as well to help us out with our community,” Jackson said.
Anyone can donate any time during the day. Donations can made during both lunches in the cafeteria, at the north and south doors, the media center, and in the attendance office.
Jackson said, “It’s just helping those who fall on hard times, like these families have.”
