During the week before Homecoming, the students and staff of Lincoln High had a little extra fun as they coordinated with the different dress codes of Spirit Week in preparation for the Homecoming festivities that Friday would hold.

Spirit Week is a thrilling time for students and staff alike to enjoy showing off their school spirit. This year Student Council presented the school with five very exciting, and very doable themes. Sophomore Student Council member Baylor Pope explained that this year the goal was to make the themes really easy for everyone to participate in with the hopes that more people would take part in it.

The week began with Denim Day, something easy enough for most to match, but just a little different to start things off. It had everyone reaching for their jeans, jean shorts, jean jackets, and well pretty much jean everything. Tuesday followed with the iconic Twin Day that included everything from matching shirts, to tattoo sleeves!  Spanish teacher Mariah Wailes, who is new to Lincoln High this year, was in fact one of the tattoo sleeve-wearers, and noted that this was definitely her favorite day so far.

After this, was a new twist on the common Wacky Wednesday with Wacky Sock Wednesday! Pope commented that this was an intentional change that they hoped to see more participation with due to it not being as risky as a full out Wacky Wednesday, but hopefully it was just enough for everyone’s dose of wacky for the week!

Thursday was plaid day, again something simple and easy to follow along with, but exciting in its uniformity in the whole school. Still to be seen on Friday is Links Pride Day, because how could it be spirit week without that!

The Links varsity football team took on the Pius X Thunderbolts for the Homecoming game on Friday, September 1, at Beechner field at 6:00 p.m., and following that wasvthe dance with the doors opening at 8:30 p.m.
