It is time for the Lincoln High Musical! This year’s musical is called Once on This Island Jr, directed by IB Coordinator John Heineman.

“It’s a great show to bring your younger brothers and sisters to,” Heineman said. The dates of stage performances are on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th at 7 p.m. during this February. There will also be a Saturday performance on February the 28th at 2 p.m. Tickets for all of these performances cost $5 for admission.

“We have a young cast that fits the talent that we knew we would have this year,” Heineman said. The staff this year is made up of mainly students, like most theater productions at LHS. Currently the musical crew and cast are working hard to make this production the best it can be. Their determination has them right on schedule. Even the surprise snow days didn’t stop them from continuing along smoothly, thanks to careful planning, Heineman said.

The plot of Once on This Island Jr is based off of a book called My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy from 1985. “It’s a great fable, moral tale that I think will relate to both young audiences and adults as well,” Heineman said. The musical takes place on an island in the Caribbean Sea. The main character in the musical is a peasant girl, Ti Moune, who falls in love with a wealthy boy named Daniel. After getting into trouble with the island’s gods, Ti Moune’s will and belief in love are tested.

If you want to find out what happens next come to Lincoln High’s production of Once on this Island Jr on the 26th, 27th, or 28th February, 2015.
