Former Link A Finalist In Glee Contest

Former Link A Finalist In Glee Contest

By Gwen Ihrie
Being part of the cast of Glee was a close reality for one Lincoln High graduate.  Mikah Meyer is a 2004 grad, who was recently on the path towards claiming his star spot on the hit Fox TV show, Glee.
In early April, a casting call was held in Memphis for those who wanted the chance of a director of Glee to hear their audition tape.  Mikah Meyer was there, and out of more than 200 other “Gleeks” auditioning for the same opportunity, the judges chose him as one of the top 20 finalists in the competition.  As online voting started, Meyer hit the online campaign trail by recruiting voters through email, Facebook, and his website.
It’s no surprise he then made it into the final 20 singers.  He starts off his incredible resume by introducing himself as a countertenor, one of the more rare male voice types known to the music world.  They usually can sing the middle female voice called Mezzo-soprano.  Due to his extreme talent, he has also been able to add to his resume a degree in Voice Performance from the University of Memphis and he was featured in USA Today.
Myfoxmemphis.com was hosting the online voting event that brought in almost 300,000 votes.  People could vote as many times as they could poke the button and almost 55,000 votes were delegated to Mikah.  He was close to 23, 000 votes behind the winner, Ashley Wieronski, with Matt Duck following in third place with close to 42,000 votes.  Wieronski, as the winner of FOX13’s Glee contest, is guaranteed to have her audition video from this contest viewed by one of the almighty casting directors of Glee.  FOX13 announced the winner out of the top three they had at the station, and after awarding Wieronski the first place position, they told the runner-ups there is a possibility for their videos to be viewed by a casting director if they choose to submit their audition.
Mikah Meyer is another example of a Lincoln High “job well done.”
