This year’s Girls Golf team made some great improvements according to coach Sam Sharpe.
“On our own course in town we went from a 491 total team score a year ago to a 439 team score this year at the Heartland Athletic Conference championship.
“We also had two players medal at the Northeast Invite. Emma Schultz finished 14th with a score of 105 and Erin Field finished 10th with a 103 score.”
Standout players this season included Erin Field who had a 105 average, Emma Schultz who had a108 average and Courtney Mangers with a 110 average for the year.
Also Michelle Lee who had the courage to come out as a senior and commit herself to the team and the game of golf. Her first 18 hole tournament after 7 days of preparation was a 151, her low for the year was 122, a 29 stroke improvement in 6 weeks.
Highs this year included having a team score in 6 tournaments, having 5 scoring varsity players in 2 tournaments, 2 players to medal in one tournament, the first time to happen since at least 2003.
“We had 4 varsity players with a GPA average 3.649,” Sharpe said.
“It was an excellent group of girls who represented Lincoln High with class and integrity,” Sharpe said.
“They always gave great effort, and matured during their high school careers both with their golf knowledge/skills and as competitors in the sport.”
