On Saturday, April 21, the girls soccer Varsity and JV teams took on Omaha Bryan at Seacrest, with both teams not only beating, but also shutting out the Omaha Bryan teams.

The JV girls won 3-0 with two goals from junior Ashton Rutsay and one from sophomore Lillian Wittmus.

Freshman Nay Hsee played in goal and shut out Bryan for the first half of the JV game, and freshman Hser Hei Htoo played second half and held the shut out to the end of the game.

The Varsity girls beat the Bryan Varsity team 9-0. Junior captain Lexus Church scored the first goal 29 seconds into the game and added another about 13 minutes later before coming out with an injury. Senior captain Cameron Rutsay scored two goals as well. Other goals came from  freshman Kate Wandsnider, junior Maeve Hemmer, senior Maya Thomas, freshman Mackenzie Smith, and freshman Taylor Kruse.

Freshman Mackenzie Smith held the shut out for a majority of the game before junior Ashton Rutsay took her place around the last 10 minutes to allow Smith some time on the field. Smith took advantage of this and scored a goal for the team, and Rutsay was able to keep the shut out.

“Lincoln High’s game against Omaha Bryan was one of the most successful games in the last few years for the Links,” Varsity Assistant Coach Zach Church said. “The girls played hard and worked together as a team.”
