Kesha Reynolds –
When it comes to football at Lincoln High, it is one thing that brings almost our whole school together. The football boys started the 2015-2016 season off great with a big win over rival Lincoln Northeast 20-13 even after the game was suspended for almost an hour because of bad weather with only 1:28 left in the 4th quarter.

It was the Links first city win in since 2006. Mark Macke, the head coach, is going into his 5th year coaching football at Lincoln High. I had a chance to talk to Macke about how he thought the game against Northeast went,
“Once again I thought it was inconsistent. I thought there was a chance we could of maybe put them away cause we were up 20 to nothing at halftime and we don’t do that.”

The Links were on a wining streak when it came to the Homecoming game. The Links put up a hard fight against North Platte, but lost the game 13-16 in overtime.

The third game of the season was played in Omaha against Millard North. For the Links that was a hard game. The Mustangs won the game 56-3. There is 1 freshman, 10 sophomores, 16 juniors and, 17 seniors on the team. The team had practices almost every day in the summer to get ready for the upcoming season. They also have been having practices on Saturdays almost every weekend. From last year to this year the boys have been doing a lot better in the eyes of the students.

The Links go into the 4th game of the season against Papillion-La Vista South. It was played at Lincoln High at 7:00 p.m., on September 18th, 2015. The Links played a hard game but lost to the Titans 14-7. Friday September 25th the links traveled to Papillion, NE to play the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs. The Links lost the game 35-0.

The Links took on the Southeast Knights on October 9th, 2015. When it came down the the 4th quarter it was tied 7-7. With 5 seconds left in the game Paul Muragizi kicked a 31 yard field goal to lead the Links to the win and a score of 10-7.

The Links when on to play Lincon Southwest on Friday October 9th, 2015. The Links started out strong scoring in Quarter 2,3,and 4. At halftime the score was tied 7-7. The Links held off the Hawks and went to win the game 21-20.

They went into the City Championship game against the Lincoln Northstar Gators on Friday October 16th, 2015. The Links put up a hard fight but lost to the Gaotrs 0-9. The Links ended the season with a 3-1 city record. The final game of the sason will be played at Lincoln High on Friday October 23rd, 2015 against Omaha Northwest at 7:00 p.m. It is also senior night for the Links.
